Some Recent Comments about 21 Blue and Tribal Records:

The music you are about to hear on this remarkable CD is a trip up a broad river to its source, a journey from sophistication to simplicity, from intellect to emotion. This music is simultaneously a reduction of jazz, an expansion of blues, a blistering foray into funk, and a flirtation with jam-band rock. It is a synthesis of styles and a palate for improvi- sation that seamlessly strips away formal categories and takes dead aim at the heart of American music.

The material they chose to record mirrors the eclectic nature of the project, from Howlin’ Wolf to Hendrix to soul jazz. They paint a picture using every shade of blue, with their technical skill deftly applying the brushstrokes. I don’t know when I have had so much talent at work in our studios. It was a thrill for me just to be in the control room hold- ing my breath as the walked the musical tightrope between the various genres. I know it will be equally thrilling for you to listen and take this journey with these modern day masters back to where it all began. Spring water flows strong and pure. Drink your fill.”

Longineu and Ted put on a GREAT show Friday night. We had a better than average Fri- day attendance and all the comments were positive. Most of the folks that came stayed for all 3 sets, which says a lot about the band. It was so nice listening to accomplished musicians. There are a lot of musicians and plenty of guitar players, but few are at the level of Longineu and Ted. We want to get them back.”

...hard to believe, but, I don't know where to begin about last night at Arts Garage. Let's try the name of the band. "21Blue". Translation, BLUES for the 21st Century. Meaning now. This is not your father's BLUES band. This is a JAZZ band which is all inclusive, BLUES to bop, Miles to Howlin' Wolf. All of it in their own voice and all of it very good. I was warned before going that this band would "blow me away". Yeah, yeah. I've heard that a gazillion times before. This time it happened.
